Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the Indian diaspora in the US, took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking in San Francisco, Gandhi stated that there are individuals in India who think they know more than God, and PM Modi is “one such specimen.” In response, Union Minister Anurag Thakur accused Gandhi of insulting India during his foreign visits and questioned his ability to acknowledge India’s progress.

During the ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ event organized by the Indian Overseas Congress USA, Rahul Gandhi expressed his belief that some people in India consider themselves knowledgeable in various fields, including history, science, and warfare, to the extent that they believe they know more than God. He further mocked PM Modi by stating that if Modi were to sit with God, he would explain to God how the universe works, leaving Him confused about His own creation. Gandhi criticized the arrogance and mediocrity of such individuals, highlighting their unwillingness to listen to others.

The comments made by Rahul Gandhi received a sharp response from the ruling party, with Union Minister Anurag Thakur accusing him of insulting India during his foreign visits. Thakur emphasized that while Gandhi may have intended to target PM Modi, his comments ended up questioning India’s progress and tarnishing its image at a time when the world is acknowledging its growing stature. Thakur also highlighted the extensive foreign engagements of PM Modi, including meetings with numerous world leaders, which have garnered praise for the Indian Prime Minister.

In summary, Rahul Gandhi’s remarks criticizing PM Modi and those who claim to know more than God have triggered a strong response from the ruling BJP, with accusations of insulting India being leveled against the Congress leader.
