Pune, 12th May 2023: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune, has issued a warning to the citizens of Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Pune about a potential heat wave that may hit the region in the next 72 hours. The IMD has predicted that the temperature may reach its highest point this year, urging citizens to take necessary precautions.

The IMD has advised people to stay indoors and avoid going out in the heat during the peak hours of the day, especially between 12 noon to 4 pm. The department has also urged people to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and avoid any heat-related illness. It has recommended that people wear light-colored and loose-fitting clothes to keep their bodies cool.

The department has also asked the local authorities to take necessary measures to tackle the situation and ensure that the citizens of the region do not suffer from the heat wave. The IMD has requested the administration to set up water stations and cool shelters in the affected areas to help people cope with the heat.

The IMD has attributed the heat wave to the prevailing weather conditions in the region. The department has reported that the hot and dry winds blowing in from the west have caused the temperature to rise. The IMD has also predicted that the temperature may remain high for the next few days.

Pune, like the rest of Maharashtra state, has experienced a surge in temperature. On May 11, the Koregaon Park area of Pune witnessed a peak temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius, marking a new high for the city.

In conclusion, the IMD has issued a warning to the citizens of Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Pune about the potential heat wave in the region. The department has advised people to take necessary precautions and stay indoors during the peak hours of the day. The local authorities have been asked to set up water stations and cool shelters in the affected areas to help people cope with the heat. The citizens of the region are urged to stay safe and take all necessary measures to avoid heat-related illness.
