Gaurav Yadav, the police deputy commissioner in the state of Punjab, told a news conference Thursday that the blasts on May 6, May 8 and near midnight on May 10 occurred outside the temple, which houses Sikhism’s holy scripture
The bombs used were makeshift bombs first one made by 200 grams of explosives detonated last Saturday. The second one detonated on Monday. Not many details on the third blast.
The golden temple is a historic place with religious significance and has been a part of political issues like in 1984.
The police had used CCTV cameras to track the down suspects after the third blast and made arrests on Thursday.
Two of the five suspects are accused of assembling the bombs and carrying out the explosions, while the other two allegedly helped supply the materials; police are also questioning the wife of one suspect. Police have seized their electronic devices and phones
The five suspects have confessed that they were behind all three explosions.
The motive of the blasts will be revealed after detailed questioning.
