Recently, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s NGO, Make A Difference (MAD), has come forward to help the family of Anjali, the victim of a horrific dragging incident in Delhi. According to reports, the NGO has donated a sum of ₹5 lakhs to Anjali’s family as compensation for her suffering.
Anjali, who was a student of Class IX in the Government Boys Senior Secondary School, had gone to the school to appear for an exam but ended up being dragged for almost 500 meters before she died due to her injuries. The incident took place in an area close to the Narela Industrial Area in Delhi.
This incident had shocked the entire nation and came to light after a video clip of the incident went viral on social media platforms. Anjali’s family had no financial assistance to meet the medical expenses or raise a legal case against the accused.
It was in this context that Shah Rukh Khan’s NGO stepped in and donated a sum of ₹5 lakhs to Anjali’s family. MAD has been helping out people in need since 2009 and has supported over 3,00,000 people in the last 11 years.
The father of Anjali, Brijbhan Kashyap, expressed his gratitude to the team of MAD and Shah Rukh Khan as his daughter would not have received justice without the support from them. He said that it was due to the help he got from MAD that he could get justice for his daughter and also thanks to Shah Rukh Khan for inspiring him to take the initiative.
Shah Rukh Khan is known for his philanthropic works and often contributes to different causes via his foundation. He has also been vocal in his support for various causes and has time and again shared his views on different social issues.
In a statement, Shah Rukh Khan said that he had heard about the incident and was deeply pained and disturbed by it. He added that his team at MAD had immediately stepped in to help the family of Anjali and provided financial aid to meet the family’s needs at the time of crisis.
