Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sashtang pranam (prostration) during an event in the United States. The Prime Minister had performed this gesture of respect before the ‘Sengol’ during the inauguration of the new Parliament building.

Gandhi mocked the BJP, stating that they are unable to engage in discussions on important issues like increasing Parliament seats, leading them to resort to such actions. He sarcastically commented, “Lying down and doing all that. Aren’t you happy I’m not lying down,” as reported by ETV Bharat. However, his remarks received a subdued response from the audience.

It is worth noting that these comments come just weeks before Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled visit to the United States. The Prime Minister has accepted an invitation from President Joe Biden and is expected to arrive in June. The visit will involve several engagements, including a state dinner hosted by the US President and First Lady.

Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of the Prime Minister’s gesture adds a political dimension to the discussion surrounding the new Parliament building and the upcoming US visit of Prime Minister Modi.
