Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 59th death anniversary. PM Modi expressed his respect for Nehru, highlighting his significant role in India’s freedom struggle and his position as India’s first Prime Minister after gaining independence in 1947. Nehru played a crucial role in the fight against British rule and was a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress (INC).

On May 27, 1964, Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, passed away at the age of 74. He served as the Prime Minister from 1947 until his death. Known for his affection for children, Nehru was affectionately called “Chacha Nehru” (Uncle Nehru) by kids. His birth anniversary on November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day in India each year, commemorating his dedication to the well-being and rights of children.
