There has been a news that has been creating ruckus in the Hansraj College of the Delhi University. The college of the Delhi University has stopped serving its students the non-vegetarian food in the canteen or the hostel . This happened when the offline classes started and the study resumed after the corona pandemic.
However, a survey was conducted in the Hansraj College among the students . It was found out that 75% of the students in the college were non-vegetarian. There has been a state of disappointment . A group of students have also called for a protest at DU’s Hansraj College against the stopping of the non vegetarian food.

The Delhi University was shut down when the covid 19 took place . There was national lockdown imposed on 2020 . From then the classes were shift to the online mode . The offline classes were resumed on February 2022.
After the classes were resumed in February 2022, the non vegetarian food that was being served throughout, the college “banned” the non vegetarian food in the college hostel and the canteen .
Many students have expressed their grievances towards this step of the college authorities. One second year student who came from the central Africa to pursue his Mathematics Honors . He said that he had to leave the hostel due to the strict rules of the non vegetarian food . He moved to a private accommodation due to all these.
Another second year student of Hansraj College said, ” Earlier, non-veg food and eggs were stopped .” He also stated that there were many students from the southern states were facing the problems due to this decision since they eat the non-veg food on a daily basis.
Amidst of all the complaints the principal of the Hansraj College, Dr. Rama Sharma stated that the administration had not received any complaints regarding the “ban” of the non-veg food. She stated that the non veg food was never served in the college canteen. It was served during the COVID period when it was legit that there is need to focus on the health and hygiene.
