Bengaluru: The state of Karnataka is all set to exercise its democratic right as polling begins today for the 224-member legislative assembly. The polling stations have been set up across the state, and arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the elections.
The polling stations will open at 7 am and will close at 6 pm. The Election Commission has made all the necessary arrangements to ensure that the voting process takes place smoothly, and voters are not inconvenienced. Results are to be announced on May 13.
A total of 5.31 crore voters are eligible to vote in the Karnataka Assembly elections. Among them, 2.64 crore are women, and 4,927 are third-gender voters. The Election Commission has made special arrangements for women voters, and each polling station will have a separate queue for women.
The elections in Karnataka are in competition between BJP , Congress and Janta Dal.
