Introduction 

As the prestigious G20 summit approaches, preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and secure event. The Hindon Airport, which has remained dormant since January. It has been designated as a standby option to welcome guests in case the primary Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi reaches its capacity. Immigration and customs facilities are being set up at the Hindon civil terminal in Ghaziabad. It was inaugurated in 2019 under the ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik’ (UDAN) scheme to operate flights on eight routes.

Scheduled for September 9 and 10, the G20 summit will bring together leaders and dignitaries from the world’s 20 leading economies. The newly-built Bharat Mandapam convention centre in Pragati Maidan will host the event, with participants starting to arrive in Delhi on September 8. 

Residents living around Hindon Airport have received guidelines for the summit period. From September 8 to 10. The residents have been advised to keep windows facing the airport closed and refrain from using building terraces. These measures contribute to the overall security plan for the summit.

Summit Venues improved

To enhance the area’s aesthetics and infrastructure, roads leading to Delhi, the summit venue, are undergoing beautification efforts. Plant installations and summit-related banners now adorn both sides of the roads, creating an inviting and visually appealing environment.

Considering the anticipated influx of dignitaries, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory. From September 8 to 10, all establishments including offices, restaurants, malls, and markets will be closed in New Delhi. To manage traffic flow, non-destined vehicles will be redirected to Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways and other alternate routes. While heavy and light goods vehicles will be barred from entering Delhi, exceptions will be made for those carrying essential commodities such as milk, vegetables, fruits, and medical supplies.

Conclusion 

In light of the extensive security arrangements and logistical preparations, officials at the Agra airport have also been instructed to maintain a state of readiness for the summit.

The collective efforts aim to ensure a successful and secure G20 summit. By fostering international cooperation and discussions on critical global issues.
