Sony Entertainment Television(SET) encountered into a controversy after a case was aired on the television which had an utter resemblance to the leading case in India at the moment which was the murder case of Shraddha Walker. In the television episode, the victim and the accused were Anna Fernandes and Mihir Kanchwala respectively. People have claimed that allegations on the channel of switching the religious identities of the victim and the accused.

When the episode was aired, people were quick to find the resemblance of the episode to the Shraddha Walker Murder case and since then the “Boycott Sony” has been trending.

Sony Tv released a defensive statement regarding the episode an after that it was deleted. They have claimed that the events of the case is based on the events of the case that took place in 2011. The entertainment followingly released a full statement “Some viewers have recently commented on the episode of crime patrol that is similar to that of a leading case right now according to the reports. We would like to clarify that this story has been inspired by the events of the case that took place in 2011. It has nothing to do with the recent case. We completely take care that our content is as per the broadcasting standards . We hereby respect the sentiments of our viewers. We apologize for the sentiments hurt by this episode”. The tweet was posted on 2nd of January.

Resemblances in both the cases.

The episode of the Crime Patrol which got deleted ,shows that a boy with the name of Mihir kills his partner after a fight and then cuts her in many pieces and throws it in various plastic bags. A similar and quite fresh case was that of Shraddha Walker too was killed by her partner Aftab Poonawala . Aftab chopped her body into several pieces and threw them away in various plastic bags in different locations.

In the episode , it can be seen that the Mihir (murderer) consumed wine and had kept the body parts of the girl preserved in the house. Similar events can be seen in the Shraddha Walker case where Aftab Poonawala had been consuming alcohol and had also been preserving the body parts of his partner after killing her.

In the episode, it can be seen that the killer had lit up incense sticks in his house in order to prevent the foul smell of the decomposing body . Such similar incidents can be seen in the real life case of Shraddha Walker murder where Aftab Poonawala had also been trying to prevent foul smell of shraddha’s decomposing body.
