Refusal to Serve Food Beyond Stipulated Hour Triggers Attack on Kadirenahalli Branch

Bengaluru, May 18, 2023 – In a shocking incident, a KFC outlet located in Kadirenahalli, South Bengaluru, was vandalised by a gang of unidentified men in the early hours of May 12. The altercation began when the employees of the outlet refused to serve food to the men beyond the stipulated closing time, leading to an unfortunate and violent turn of events. Three employees were left with minor injuries as a result of the attack.

According to the complaint filed by 28-year-old Sai Upendra, one of the injured employees, the assailants physically assaulted him and his co-workers, Aravind (21) and Venkatesh (23). The incident took place shortly after midnight when a group of seven to eight individuals arrived at the KFC outlet, carrying beer and requesting food from the staff.

The employees, adhering to the restaurant’s policies and business hours, informed the group that serving food past the closing time was not possible. They also reminded the individuals that the consumption of alcohol inside the outlet was strictly prohibited. This refusal appeared to have sparked the anger and frustration of the group, resulting in a violent attack on the employees.

Eyewitnesses stated that the situation escalated rapidly as the assailants became increasingly aggressive, damaging property and causing chaos within the establishment. The Kadirenahalli branch suffered significant damage, with furniture, equipment, and other items being vandalised during the incident.

Local authorities were immediately notified, and a police team arrived at the scene to investigate the matter. The injured employees were provided with medical assistance, and their injuries were reported to be minor in nature. However, the psychological impact of the incident on the victims and their colleagues cannot be undermined.

Speaking about the incident, a spokesperson for KFC expressed deep concern over the attack and condemned the use of violence in any circumstance. They emphasized that the safety and well-being of their employees and customers remained their utmost priority. The spokesperson assured that the company would cooperate fully with the authorities during the investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

As investigations are underway, the police are reviewing CCTV footage from the outlet and conducting interviews with witnesses to identify the culprits involved in the attack. The motive behind the assault is yet to be determined fully.

This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting business hours and adhering to the rules and regulations set by establishments. It also highlights the need for increased awareness and education regarding responsible alcohol consumption and the consequences of resorting to violence as a means to address grievances.

The KFC outlet in Kadirenahalli is temporarily closed for repairs, and management is working diligently to restore normal operations as soon as possible. The local community has expressed solidarity with the affected employees and has condemned the act of vandalism.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. The police are determined to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly and ensure that such acts of violence are not tolerated within the city.

In the wake of this distressing event, it is crucial for society to reaffirm the values of mutual respect, understanding, and peaceful conflict resolution.
