White House announced PM Modi’s state visit to Washington DC

In a major diplomatic announcement, the White House has announced that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Washington DC for a state dinner in June 2023. The visit is aimed at strengthening the already robust ties between India and the United States and to discuss matters of mutual interest such as industry, research, and other strategic issues.

The announcement was made after a meeting between US President Joe Biden and Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. The two leaders discussed a range of issues, including the need for closer collaboration between the two nations in the fields of science, technology, and research. The upcoming visit of PM Modi is expected to further deepen these ties and lead to concrete steps to enhance cooperation in these areas.

The relationship between India and the United States has witnessed a significant upswing in recent years, with the two countries engaging in a series of high-level visits and dialogues. “The visit will strengthen our two countries’ shared commitment to a free, open, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific and our shared resolve to elevate our strategic technology partnership, including in defence, clean energy, and space,” the White House said.

“The Indian readout went into more detail, adding that the two leaders would reflect on ”their shared vision for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific and discuss opportunities to expand and consolidate the Quad engagement .

In conclusion, the announcement of PM Modi’s state visit to Washington DC for a state dinner is a significant step towards enhancing the already strong ties between India and the United States. The visit is expected to lead to concrete steps to deepen cooperation in various areas, including industry, research, and strategic issues.
