Two women from Madhya Pradesh named Ayasha Fatima are both claiming to have cracked the UPSC civil services examination, causing confusion and disputes. Ayasha Fatima, a 23-year-old from Dewas district, asserts that she cleared the exam in her first attempt. However, Ayasha Makrani, 26, from Alirajpur district, also insists that she secured the 184th rank in the exam.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that both Ayashas have produced admit cards bearing the same roll number: 7811744. Nevertheless, discrepancies emerge when comparing the admit cards. Ayasha Makrani’s card states that the personality test was scheduled for April 25, 2023, a Thursday, while Fatima’s card indicates the same date but specifies it as a Tuesday. April 25, 2023, did indeed fall on a Tuesday.
Additionally, Ayasha Fatima’s admit card features the UPSC watermark with a QR code, while Makrani’s admit card lacks these security features and is printed on plain white paper. Makrani’s brother claims that she received an email from UPSC stating that her name on the admit card had been changed to Ayasha Fatima due to name similarity with three other candidates. However, UPSC sources assert that Ayasha Fatima of Dewas is the correct candidate. They plan to investigate how such a mix-up occurred.
The conflicting claims and the identical roll number raise concerns about the accuracy of the examination process. The discrepancies in the admit cards and the name change mentioned by Makrani’s brother further deepen the mystery surrounding the situation. The UPSC’s involvement in resolving this matter becomes crucial to establish the rightful candidate for the 184th rank and to ensure the transparency and integrity of the civil services examination. The investigation initiated by UPSC aims to shed light on the circumstances that led to this confusion and to determine the genuine candidate who deserves the recognition and benefits associated with the rank.
