Introduction
India is preparing for the grand Independence Day celebration. A remarkable guest list was unveiled by the government for the event scheduled at the historic Red Fort. This year, the government’s selection of around 1800 “special guests” spans a wide array of individuals hailing from different walks of life, all of whom have significantly contributed to the nation’s development.
The eclectic group of invitees includes sarpanches from the ‘Vibrant Villages’ initiative, teachers, nurses, farmers, fishermen, laborers, and more. This diverse assembly reflects the essence of the country’s progress and embodies the spirit of unity and collaboration.

Vibrant Village initiated
The ‘Vibrant Villages’ initiative, designed to uplift the living standards of residents in villages near the border areas, has been instrumental in bolstering border security by encouraging people to remain in their villages and thrive there. By reversing the trend of outmigration, the initiative contributes not only to the local economy but also to the nation’s security.
In a heartwarming gesture, approximately 50 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme (PM-KISAN), along with their families, have also received coveted invitations to the event. The PM-KISAN scheme, a central government program, extends financial assistance to farmer families across the country who own cultivable land. The scheme offers an annual amount of ₹6,000, distributed in three equal parts of ₹2,000, directly into the farmers’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. The presence of these beneficiaries at the Red Fort stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to supporting the farming community.
Among the special guests, a group of nurses from Haryana has been recognized for their exceptional contributions during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. These nurses displayed unwavering dedication and exemplary service in the face of a global crisis, earning them not only the gratitude of their communities but also the felicitation by President Droupadi Murmu on Nursing Day.
Conclusion
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to hoist the tricolour and address the nation, the presence of these diverse and deserving individuals emphasises the government’s “Jan Bhagidari Programme,” a testament to the value placed on the collective efforts that have shaped the nation’s growth and progress. Their presence at the Red Fort on this momentous day is a celebration of India’s spirit of resilience, unity, and hope for the future.
