New Delhi: India’s eagerly anticipated new Parliament building is set to be inaugurated later this month, marking a significant milestone for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government as it celebrates its ninth anniversary. The grand opening ceremony, scheduled for the last week of May, will be attended by the Prime Minister himself, according to reliable sources.
The state-of-the-art Parliament building, currently in its final stages of construction, stands as a symbol of India’s democratic values and progress. With an estimated cost of ₹970 crores, the four-storey structure has been meticulously designed to accommodate 1,224 Members of Parliament, along with various amenities and facilities to enhance the parliamentary proceedings.
Among its notable features is the magnificent Constitution Hall, which will serve as a testament to India’s rich democratic heritage. The building also boasts spacious dining areas and ample parking space to cater to the needs of the parliamentarians and visitors.
To add a touch of elegance and uniformity, the staff members working in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will don a new attire, specially designed by the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
The new Parliament building has been conceptualized with three distinguished entrances: Gyan Dwar (Door of Knowledge), Shakti Dwar (Door of Power), and Karma Dwar (Door of Duty). These entrances will ensure separate access points for Members of Parliament, VIPs, and general visitors, offering a streamlined and efficient experience for all.
It is worth mentioning that the foundation stone for the new Parliament building was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself in December 2020. Since then, the construction has progressed rapidly, adhering to strict quality standards and meeting the aspirations of a modern democratic institution.
As the country celebrates nine years of Prime Minister Modi’s governance on May 26, 2023, the inauguration of the new Parliament building stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to progress and the strengthening of India’s democratic foundations.
The new Parliament building is expected to provide an enhanced legislative environment that facilitates efficient decision-making, robust debates, and collaborative governance. With its striking architecture and state-of-the-art facilities, it is poised to become an iconic landmark representing India’s vibrant democracy on the global stage.
The upcoming inauguration will mark a momentous occasion not only for the Modi government but also for the nation as a whole. It will symbolize a renewed chapter in India’s democratic journey and serve as a reminder of the country’s unwavering commitment to the principles of democracy, transparency, and progress.
With anticipation building among politicians, officials, and citizens alike, the new Parliament building is set to become a hub of democratic discourse, paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for the world’s largest democracy.
