In a startling turn of events, two candidates with identical names, Tushar Kumar, have emerged claiming the 44th rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examination. What makes this situation even more puzzling is the fact that both candidates possess call letters bearing the same roll number. The candidates, hailing from different states and living 1,324 kilometers apart, are now embroiled in a controversy over their respective claims.
The incident first came to light when Bihar’s Tushar Kumar lodged a complaint with the Kaimur superintendent of police, denouncing the claim made by Rewari resident Tushar Kumar as fraudulent. Bihar’s Tushar Kumar asserted that he had participated in the personality test on May 8, the same day Rewari’s Tushar Kumar claimed to have done so.
In response to the allegations, Rewari’s Tushar Kumar stated that he would personally visit the UPSC office to bring this issue to the attention of the officials. However, Bihar’s Tushar Kumar maintained that his counterpart from Rewari had forged his admit card. He also revealed that he had repeatedly requested Rewari’s Tushar Kumar to share his documents for verification purposes, but his requests were met with refusal.
Bihar’s Tushar Kumar pointed out discrepancies in the admit card, highlighting the absence of Aadhar card details in the version presented by Rewari’s Tushar Kumar. Additionally, the QR code on Rewari’s Tushar Kumar’s call letter failed to provide any information upon scanning, whereas Bihar’s Tushar Kumar’s QR code revealed all relevant details.
Expressing his frustration, Bihar’s Tushar Kumar emphasized that the UPSC should not be making such mistakes. He disclosed his educational background, having pursued a degree in textiles from IIT-Delhi in 2016, and this being his sixth attempt at the civil services examination. Bihar’s Tushar Kumar and his loved ones were elated over his success, only to be taken aback upon learning that someone else was laying claim to his rank.
Rewari’s Tushar Kumar, on the other hand, shared that he had faced personal hardships after the demise of his parents, but managed to crack the UPSC examination without any coaching. The Rewari deputy commissioner, Imran Raza, confirmed awareness of the situation, acknowledging that it is the responsibility of the UPSC to resolve this matter.
As this puzzling case unfolds, it remains unclear how two candidates with the same name, rank, and roll number managed to appear for the personality test on the same day at the UPSC office in New Delhi. The allegations of forged documents and conflicting details have raised questions regarding the thoroughness of the examination process and the credibility of the UPSC’s results.
The UPSC, known for its stringent selection procedures, now faces the daunting task of uncovering the truth behind this perplexing situation. The reputation of the esteemed commission hangs in the balance as the nation eagerly awaits a resolution to this mysterious case of the Tushar Kumars with identical claims and shared aspirations.
