A peculiar incident unfolded in Chittoor town, Andhra Pradesh, as a man managed to steal a police patrol vehicle and drive it across the border to Tamil Nadu. The theft occurred on Monday, but prompt police action led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle on the same day.

The stolen Rakshak vehicle, which had been parked in front of the One Town police station, was reported missing, causing a frenzy among the police. An immediate search was initiated throughout the town to locate the stolen vehicle.

After reviewing the CCTV footage, the police discovered that the vehicle had headed towards the Tamil Nadu border. Acting swiftly, they contacted their counterparts in Tamil Nadu and successfully intercepted the stolen vehicle in Tindivanam town.

A team from Chittoor was dispatched to Tamil Nadu to retrieve the vehicle and apprehend the thief. Investigations revealed that the suspect had been loitering around the police station and took advantage of the unlocked police vehicle.

As it was an official police vehicle, he encountered no resistance when crossing the inter-state border.

Currently, the police are interrogating the accused to ascertain the motive behind the audacious act of stealing a police patrol vehicle. This incident highlights the need for enhanced security measures and vigilance, even within police premises, to prevent such incidents in the future.
