Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his optimism about the Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP) during the breakthrough event of its second underground tunnel. He stated that the coastal road would serve as a catalyst for Mumbai’s growth and transform the city’s commuting experience. Shinde also mentioned plans to extend the road network to Mira Bhayander and Dahisar in subsequent phases.
According to the CM, the implementation of the coastal road project would alleviate the congestion and reduce bumper-to-bumper traffic in Mumbai.
In a separate development, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed the existence of “massive unrest” within the Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena, alluding to dissatisfaction among key leaders. Fadnavis indicated that further details about this unrest would soon be disclosed publicly. While he did not provide specific names or elaborate on his statement, his remarks gain significance as they come ahead of the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, Balu Dhanorkar, the lone Congress MP from Maharashtra, passed away at a private hospital in Delhi at the age of 48. Survived by his wife Pratibha Dhanorkar, an MLA, and two sons, his untimely demise brings a sense of loss to the political landscape of the state.
