the social media was also flooded with claims that another lithium reserve was found in Degana Nagar , Rajasthan .However, the Geological Survey Of India (GSI) has termed these reports as “baseless”. There was no such information given neither by the regional headquarters nor by the central headquarters of the GSI.

the GSI further clarified that the exploration for minerals like Lithium and other rare minerals associated with it is still going on and the drilling work since 2019-20 is still a work in progress. if such reserves are found people would be dually informed .

 Why is lithium important?

Lithium is a critical mineral used in the manufacturing of batteries for electric vehicles, renewable energy storage systems, and consumer electronics. With the growing demand for electric vehicles, there has been a surge in the demand for lithium, which has resulted in skyrocketing prices. India has been making efforts to reduce its dependence on imports and develop domestic sources of lithium to support the country’s ambitious targets for electric mobility. Due to its importance such Fake news are quick to catch people’s attention and should be fact checked.
