In a recent development, the Himachal Pradesh government has expressed its intention to acquire possession of a prominent luxury hotel located in Kufri, currently managed by the East India Hotels (EIH) of the prestigious Oberoi group. This move, revealed during a court hearing on Tuesday, has stirred discussions and raised questions about the underlying reasons and potential implications.
The court on Saturday stayed the State government to tell whether or not to take over the Hotel Wildflower Hall of East India Hotels(EIH) of the oberoi group by December 15. Justice Satyen Vaidya said “While deciding the objections of the parties vide its orders on November 17, the court had specifically asked the state to reveal its option that whether it intended to resume the possession in terms of the award of the arbitrator or not and granted time till December 15, 2023, for this purpose…,”.
But the state government has taken over its possession on the very next day morning. The hotel counsel said the order to passed by the government are illegal and in violation. He further said the court had asked the government to give its option by December 15.
The court has asked the directed that the state not interfere in the hotel’s day-to-day management.
