In a recent development, a video showing former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia allegedly being manhandled by a police official at Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has caused a stir. The video was shared on social media by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi, who expressed shock at the incident and called for immediate action against the police officer involved. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also responded swiftly to the video, questioning the behavior of the police officials and demanding an explanation from higher authorities.

The video, which circulated widely on social media platforms, depicted Manish Sisodia surrounded by police officials at the court premises. Atishi shared the video on Twitter, condemning the incident and demanding the suspension of the police officer responsible for the alleged misbehavior.

In response to the accusations, the Delhi Police dismissed the claims as ‘propaganda’ in a statement on Twitter. They justified their actions by stating that the response shown in the video was necessary from a security standpoint. The police further emphasized that it is against the law for accused individuals in judicial custody to make statements to the media.

Meanwhile, a Delhi court extended Sisodia’s judicial custody until June 1 in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged excise scam. The judge also instructed the jail authorities to consider providing Sisodia with a chair, a table, and books within the prison.

During his exit from the courtroom, Sisodia made comments directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of not believing in democracy and displaying arrogance. Sisodia is one of the accused individuals in cases filed by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the alleged excise scam. The Delhi government implemented an excise policy in November 2021 but revoked it in September 2022 due to corruption allegations.

The incident involving Manish Sisodia and the subsequent sharing of the video by AAP leaders Atishi and Kejriwal have ignited a political controversy. The allegations of police misconduct and the counter-claims of propaganda have further deepened the divide between the AAP and the Delhi Police. As the matter unfolds, the public and concerned authorities await a thorough investigation to ascertain the truth behind the incident and address any potential misconduct or wrongdoing.
