Supriya Sule, the newly appointed working president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), responded to allegations of nepotism by urging her critics to evaluate her performance as a Member of Parliament (MP) before questioning her credentials. Sule, who is the daughter of party chief Sharad Pawar, expressed pride in her family background and stated that she would not shy away from acknowledging her political lineage. She emphasized the need to consider performance alongside discussions on nepotism and urged her detractors to review the data regarding her parliamentary achievements.

Sule asserted that her success was based on merit and not favoritism, highlighting that parliamentary proceedings were not controlled by her relatives. The appointment of Sule and Rajya Sabha MP Praful Patel as working presidents of the NCP led to speculation and reactions regarding the alleged sidelining of Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar.

Amid these speculations, Sule defended her appointment and criticized selective use of nepotism allegations against her or anyone else. The BJP’s Amit Malviya made a tweet drawing a comparison between Sharad Pawar’s treatment of his nephew and Mamata Banerjee’s relationship with her own nephew.
