The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) made its largest drug seizure to date, recovering drugs worth crores in a nationwide operation. The agency busted a dark-net based drug syndicate and apprehended several smugglers, leading to the recovery of significant quantities of the party drug LSD.
The NCB, known for its anti-drug efforts, hailed this seizure as a major achievement in combating illicit drug activities. The drugs seized are expected to be worth a substantial amount. The agency has called for a press conference at 12 pm today to provide further details regarding the operation and the drug seizure.
In a separate operation conducted last month in collaboration with the Indian Navy, the NCB successfully recovered a staggering 2,525 kg of methamphetamine along the coast of Kerala. The street value of the seized methamphetamine is estimated to be Rs 25,000 crores. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Ops), described this seizure as the agency’s largest in terms of monetary value.
The operation, codenamed Operation Samudragupta, was initiated in February 2022 and has resulted in the seizure of over 4,000 kg of drugs thus far. The drugs were traced back to the Chabahar port in Iran, with Pakistan identified as the source of the illicit substances.
These recent operations highlight the relentless efforts of the NCB to curb the drug trade and dismantle drug syndicates operating within the country. The seizure of large amounts of LSD and methamphetamine signifies a significant blow to the illegal drug market and serves as a warning to those involved in drug smuggling and distribution.
