The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a prediction of thunderstorms, dust storms, and light to moderate rainfall in Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) over the next two hours. This weather forecast follows the observation of a cluster of cloud patches passing over the Delhi-NCR region.

The IMD’s notification comes after Delhi experienced early-morning rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and dust storms. This occurred shortly after the IMD had issued a heat wave warning for the national capital.

In response to the rainfall update, the weather body has released an advisory on Twitter, urging residents in and around the city to follow traffic advisories, stay indoors, and keep windows and doors closed. It also recommends avoiding travel if possible.

The Delhi Airport has also issued a circular, informing passengers to contact their respective airlines for updated flight information as the inclement weather has disrupted operations.

The IMD advises people to seek safe shelters and avoid standing under trees during the adverse weather conditions. It also recommends refraining from lying on concrete floors or leaning against concrete walls. Additionally, unplugging all electrical devices is advised.

Earlier, the weather department had forecasted that the maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi would range around 37 and 22 degrees Celsius, respectively. The daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius over the next week due to occasional showers.
