In the latest escalation of violence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Palestinian militants fired rockets towards Jerusalem, prompting retaliatory air strikes from Israel that have left at least 110 people injured in Gaza. Israel and Gaza’s militants traded heavy fire on Friday  as hopes faded

of securing a truce to end days of fighting that have killed dozens, all but one of them being Palestinian.

The violence has been met with international calls for de-escalation, with the European Union pushing on Thursday for an “immediate comprehensive ceasefire”.

Israel announced it was “striking Islamic Jihad targets” in the densely populated Palestinian territory, while journalists saw airstrikes hit Gaza City.

In the occupied West Bank. Violence broke out on people”. Tuesday when Israel killed three top members of the Islamic Jihad militant group, while subsequent strikes have killed two other senior figures.

Sirens warning of incoming fire meanwhile rang out in Israeli communities close to the border with the Gaza Strip, as well as blaring in an Israeli settlement near Jerusalem in the occupied west bank.

Violence that had broken out killed three top members of the Islamic jihad militant group , while subsequent fights have killed 2 senior figures.

At least 31 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, including militants and several civilians as well as children. The violence has left more than 90 people wounded in Gaza, according to the latest toll.

One of the targets of the Israeli strikes was a building in Gaza City that housed the offices of several media outlets, including the Associated Press and Al Jazeera. The building was hit by several missiles and was completely destroyed. The Israeli military said that the building was being used by Hamas for military purposes, but did not provide any evidence to support the claim.

The violence in Gaza comes amid growing tensions in Jerusalem, where Israeli police have been clashing with Palestinian protesters over the past weeks. The protests were triggered by the Israeli decision to restrict access to the Al-Aqsa mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites, during the holy month of Ramadan.

The situation in Gaza is already dire, with residents living under a crippling blockade that has been imposed by Israel and Egypt since Hamas seized control of the territory in 2007. The blockade has severely restricted the movement of people and goods in and out of Gaza, and has led to a worsening humanitarian crisis.

The latest escalation of violence has sparked international concern, with the United Nations, the European Union and several countries calling for an immediate end to the hostilities. The UN has warned that the situation could escalate into a full-blown war if the violence continues.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been going on for decades, and has claimed the lives of thousands of people. Despite several attempts at peace negotiations, the two sides have been unable to reach a lasting agreement. The latest round of violence is a stark reminder of the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
