Ace wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat have declared their commitment to seeking justice against wrestling federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, stating that they are willing to leave their jobs if necessary. The athletes, along with Sakshee Malikkh, have resumed their duties in the railways while actively participating in the protest.
Contrary to reports suggesting their withdrawal from the protest, the wrestlers have firmly stated that they will not back down in their fight for justice. Sakshee Malikkh emphasized that it is their battle for justice and they will stand firm.
Vinesh Phogat took to Twitter, expressing that the value of their medals is now being overshadowed by attempts to jeopardize their livelihoods. She asserted that if their jobs become obstacles in the pursuit of justice, they will not hesitate to leave them.
The wrestlers recently met with Home Minister Amit Shah to request an impartial investigation into the allegations of sexual harassment made against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh by seven female wrestlers, including a minor. Amit Shah assured them that the law applies to everyone equally and encouraged them to let the legal process take its course.
Sakshee Malikkh stated that their conversation with Amit Shah was normal, reiterating their singular demand for the arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh. The wrestlers vowed to continue their protest until justice is served.
Sources reveal that the wrestlers sought a meeting with Amit Shah after the expiration of their five-day deadline for action against the wrestling federation chief.
This determined stance by Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat showcases their unwavering commitment to fighting for justice and highlights the urgency they feel in addressing the allegations against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
