In a breakthrough, the Srinagar police have apprehended a married couple for their alleged involvement in a fraudulent scheme where they posed as high-ranking civil servants and swindled innocent individuals by offering fake job opportunities and other favors. The arrested duo has been identified as Manmohan Ganjoo, son of late Girdhari Lal Ganjoo from Baghat, Srinagar, and Ayoush Koul Ganjoo. Their major crime is quite clear as its Impersonating civil servants for extortion along with other things like milsleading people.

According to law enforcement officials, the couple managed to dupe numerous individuals out of significant sums of money through their elaborate scam, in which they promised jobs, transfers, and other perks. Authorities have disclosed that Manmohan Ganjoo was previously suspended police personnel. During the raid at their residence, law enforcement seized laptops and mobile devices containing a trove of fabricated transfer and appointment documents, including Manmohan Ganjoo’s own falsified order of induction into the Indian Police Service (IPS).

The arrested couple was found to be in possession of fraudulently acquired cash, jewellery, and other incriminating articles. A police spokesperson informed that a formal FIR (First Information Report) has been lodged against the duo under sections 170, 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sadder Police Station (PS).

Reports indicate that three victims have thus far come forward to report their grievances against the couple. This sheds light on the extent of the con job that the pair managed to perpetuate. Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and not fall prey to such fraudulent schemes. Victims who have been swindled by this “conman couple” are encouraged to report their cases to the authorities.
