Actor Sobhita Dhulipala recently shared her thoughts on the ongoing debate surrounding Hindi films versus movies from the south. She expressed that the debate is not something new and has been a topic of discussion for a long time. Sobhita, who has appeared in various films, believes that the visibility of this “war” has increased due to the success of pan-India films in recent years.
Sobhita Dhulipala was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: II, a sequel to Ponniyin Selvan: I, which featured an ensemble cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Trisha. Speaking to India Today, Sobhita stated, “I don’t think it is a new war at all. The war has just become more visible now because of cinematic successes. But since pre-independence, there has been debate on what should be the national language. India isn’t really a union of states in a way. It’s a country where we are all tied together. We cheer for our cricket team but inherently, we are very different in our food, culture, and languages. We should acknowledge and celebrate it. Homogeneity is not something that is natural or something I root for. I like the differences.”
Sobhita also reflected on her transition from modelling to acting. After winning the Femina Miss India Earth 2013 title, she pursued a career in the entertainment industry. However, she realized that modelling did not provide the creative fulfillment she sought. Through auditions for advertisements and films, she discovered her passion for acting and recognized it as her true calling.
Upcoming projects for Sobhita Dhulipala include the film Sitara alongside Rajeev Siddhartha and Monkey Man, which marks the directorial debut of Dev Patel and features Patel and Sharlto Copley alongside Sobhita. By embracing her diverse roles and projects, Sobhita continues to explore her creative expressions in the industry.
