The incident occurred around 8 pm when the woman, a private employee residing in Balajinagar, was returning from a nearby clothes shop. As she walked down the road, she was confronted by a man who allegedly touched her inappropriately.

The man’s aggression grew, and he took the unthinkable step of stripping her of her clothes right there on the road, tearing her garments. As the traumatic incident unfolded, another passer-by, a woman on a two-wheeler, attempted to intervene. She tried to rescue the victim from the clutches of the assailant. However, the aggressor’s fury was not quelled; he turned his aggression towards this Good Samaritan as well.
The accused’s mother didn’t help the victim
The suspect has been identified as Peddamaraiah, a 30-year-old daily wage labourer from Jawahar Nagar. It is reported that he was accompanied by his mother during the incident. The presence of the mother adds a distressing layer to the incident, as she stood by as a witness to her son’s reprehensible actions, failing to intervene or prevent the crime from unfolding.
Local residents, outraged by the incident, promptly informed the police, who swiftly arrived at the scene and apprehended Peddamaraiah. A case has been filed against him under various sections of the law. Including section 354 (b) which pertains to outraging a woman’s modesty, as well as sections 323 and 506 r/w 34 for criminal assault, intimidation, and criminal intent towards a common cause. Notably, the mother has also been implicated for her failure to stop her son’s actions.
