Jaipur, Rajasthan, India

In a span of just 16 minutes, the city of Jaipur experienced a series of three back-to-back earthquakes early on Friday morning, leaving residents in a state of panic. Fortunately, no casualties or damages have been reported as of yet.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported that the first earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 4.4, struck Jaipur at approximately 4:09 am IST. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers and was centered near Lat 26.88 and Long 75.70 in Rajasthan.

Within minutes of the first tremor, a second earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 3.1, was felt at 4:22 am IST. This earthquake occurred at a shallower depth of 5 kilometers and was located near Lat 26.67 and Long 75.70.

Shortly after, at around 4:25 am IST, Jaipur experienced its third earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 3.4. This quake occurred at the same depth as the first, at 10 kilometers, and was centered near Lat 26.87 and Long 75.69.

The rapid succession of earthquakes within such a short time frame caused fear and anxiety among residents, who felt the tremors across the city and surrounding areas. Many people reported being awakened by the sudden shaking and were seen evacuating their homes in search of safety.

Authorities and emergency services were quick to respond to the situation, assuring the public that they were closely monitoring the seismic activity and ensuring that no significant damages or casualties had been reported.

Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje, took to social media to express her concern for the safety and well-being of the people. In a tweet, she stated, “Earthquake tremors have been felt at other places in the state, including Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!”

The region’s geology and tectonic activity may have contributed to the occurrence of these earthquakes. Jaipur is located in a seismically active zone, making it susceptible to tremors. Scientists from the NCS are closely examining the seismic data to understand the cause of the earthquake cluster.

As the situation unfolds, authorities are urging residents to remain calm and stay vigilant. People are advised to follow safety protocols during and after earthquakes, such as seeking shelter under sturdy furniture or doorways and avoiding areas that could pose risks during aftershocks.

The NCS continues to monitor the seismic activity in the region and is urging the public to report any unusual seismic occurrences promptly.

As of now, there have been no reports of significant damage to infrastructure or injuries to individuals. However, the situation is being closely monitored by authorities, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

Residents of Jaipur and surrounding areas are urged to stay informed through official channels and to be prepared in case of any further seismic activity.
