Kabir Granthawali
A revised edition of ‘Kabir Granthawali,’ considered a comprehensive and authentic work on Kabir studies, is set to release on June 4th, coinciding with the 626th Kabir Jayanti. The book, published by Rajkamal Prakashan and edited by Purushottam Agrawal, aims to make Kabir’s works accessible to readers after almost a century.
The original edition of the book was first edited in 1928 by Shyamsundar Das, based on handwritten copies of Kabir’s works dating back centuries. In the revised edition, Agrawal has corrected numerous errors that were overlooked due to reading mistakes.
Agrawal, a critic and expert in Bhakti poetry, took on the task of revising the text after realizing the need for a more accurate version. He recognized that not all readers have the opportunity to compare various collections of Kabir’s works with the original manuscripts. Therefore, he aimed to provide a reliable and understandable text through this compilation.
The publishers are delighted to present the most authentic version of Kabir’s work in the form of ‘Kabir Granthawali’ to the Hindi literary world. By rectifying the errors in the century-old edition edited by Shyamsundar Das, the revised edition offers readers an authentic text of Kabir’s works after nearly a hundred years.
The book launch is expected to be attended by prominent figures such as Hindi poet Ashok Vajpeyi and classical singer Shubha Mudgal.
