The first planned city in India – Jaipur, has always been considered in high regard. Jaipur has always been a city of rich cultural heritage, colorful handicrafts, forts & minarets, and mineral reserves. Well known for its tourism industry(consequently hospitality industry), mineral industry, gemstones industry, and handicrafts industry, the pink city is now adding one more prominent industry to its portfolio – the IT industry.
After being selected as one of the hundred cities under the Smart City Mission, the infrastructural developments as well as digitization has garnered pace in Jaipur. Being close to Delhi-NCR, Jaipur enjoys a special place in investors’ as well as companies’ hearts. Companies looking to expand in North India, definitely look at Jaipur as a prominent destination as it is fresher, has an able workforce, has lesser pollution, lesser population, and lesser property rates – as compared to Delhi NCR.
With major infrastructure developments happening in and around the region, real estate prices in Jaipur are constantly climbing and will continue to do so in the coming future. Major projects that boost(or will boost) the economy of Jaipur are –
- Delhi Mumbai Expressway – The greenfield expressway will significantly reduce the travel time between Delhi and Jaipur from 5 hours to a mere 1.5-2 hours. The first phase of this expressway is to be inaugurated around 26th January, and the whole project is expected to be live for public use in March 2023.
- Delhi – Alwar RRTS – The Rapid Rail Transit System is being developed to connect the national capital with other important cities. This will reduce the travel time from Delhi to Alwar from 3.5 hours(minimum time by train) to 104 minutes only. Furthermore, the Rajasthan government is in talks with NCRTC to extend the Delhi-Alwar RRTS to Jaipur in the future.
- Jaipur Metro – With the first phase already live, Jaipur metro is helping citizens to commute intracity. Further, the Jaipur metro is also expanding to cover more areas. This will lead to easy transport within the city and increased real estate prices.
- Renewable Energy Mega Powerplant – Rajasthan Government has signed an MoU with NTPC REL(NTPC – Renewable Energy Limited) for the development of a 10 GW Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park in the state. The availability of unusable barren land and ample sunlight throughout the state can lead to major developments in the coming future.
