Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated 11 workers who played crucial roles in the construction and development of the new Parliament building. After the inauguration of the sprawling complex, covering an area of 64,500 square meters, the Prime Minister personally interacted with the workers and presented them with traditional shawls and mementos. Expressing his gratitude, Modi took to Twitter, acknowledging the workers’ tireless dedication and craftsmanship.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister highlighted that the construction project provided employment to a staggering 60,000 workers. He further emphasized their importance by mentioning the creation of a dedicated digital gallery within the new complex to honor their contribution.

The construction of the new Parliament building was part of the ambitious Central Vista redevelopment plan, which commenced in December 2020. The completion of this mammoth endeavor was made possible by the collective efforts of numerous workers, each with their specific roles.

Among the honored workers was Satyaranjan Das, who ensured the provision of water and food for the construction site workforce. Additionally, Ajaz Ahmed served as a supervisor, Uranjan Dalai arranged tea and water for the workers, and Devlal Sukhar and Anil Kumar Yadav placed sandstone on the outer wall of Parliament.

Other workers recognized by the Prime Minister included Subrata Sutradhar, who installed bamboo floors, Muzaffar Khan, responsible for keeping all the machines operational, Dharmendra, a gas welder, and Anand Vishwakarma, who worked on the ceilings of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, as well as installing chairs in the new complex.

The gesture of honoring these workers underscores the significance of their contribution to the nation’s new parliamentary building, symbolizing the Prime Minister’s appreciation for their hard work and skill.
