New Delhi,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the commencement of the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign during his monthly radio broadcast, ‘Mann ki Baat,’ as a tribute to the valiant heroes who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence. The campaign, set to launch ahead of Independence Day, aims to honour their memory by installing special inscriptions in panchayats across the nation.
Under the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign, an ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ will be organised, symbolising the sanctity of the campaign. The yatra will transport 7,500 urns, each containing soil from various corners of India, to the national capital. These urns will also carry saplings, signifying growth, unity, and prosperity. The culmination of this journey will be the creation of an ‘Amrit Vatika’ near the National War Memorial. By blending the soil and saplings from the urns, this ‘Amrit Vatika’ will stand as a monumental representation of ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat,’ the vision of a united and stronger India.
“Meri Mati Mera Desh” holds a deep purpose to acknowledge the sacrifices of countless brave men and women who fought for India’s freedom. Prime Minister Modi urged every citizen to participate actively in this noble campaign and honor the spirit of the nation’s martyrs.
In a reminiscent tone, PM Modi referenced the successful ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, where citizens proudly hoisted the tricolour flag outside their homes. He encouraged the nation to continue this tradition and celebrate Independence Day with fervour and respect. By doing so, the citizens would gain a better understanding of their duties and the immense sacrifices made by their forefathers for the sake of freedom.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister acknowledged the rise in the number of pilgrims visiting spiritual destinations like Kashi, Ayodhya, Mathura, and Ujjain, which has contributed to employment opportunities for the underprivileged. He praised the collective efforts of the nation during challenging times, exemplified by the response to recent natural calamities, which demonstrated the power of unity.
As the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign sets forth, citizens are called upon to unite in paying tribute to the unsung heroes who laid the foundation of India’s sovereignty. This campaign not only celebrates the past but also strives to create a better future by fostering a sense of national pride and responsibility in every individual.
The ‘Amrit Vatika’ near the National War Memorial will be a constant reminder of the sacrifices of the past and a beacon of hope for a united and prosperous India. With the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign, the nation moves one step closer to achieving the dream of ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat.’
