In a disturbing incident in Minjur, three men stabbed a dog to death after it put up resistance when they attempted to attack its owner. The assailants, identified as Shankar (23), Prabhakaran (22), and Rohith (22), were later arrested based on a complaint filed by the dog’s owner, Bhuvaneshwar (27), and subsequently sent to jail.
The incident occurred following a previous altercation, as last week, Bhuvaneshwar had intervened when he noticed the same three men attacking his friend Kiran. Enraged by his interference, the assailants assaulted Bhuvaneshwar, hacking him with a machete before fleeing the scene. Bhuvaneshwar was rushed to the government Stanley medical college and hospital for treatment. He lodged a complaint with the Minjur police, who registered a case of attempted murder and initiated a search for the perpetrators.
According to reports, Kiran, who had prior conflicts with the three men, reached out to Bhuvaneshwar seeking assistance. On Monday night, under the impression that Bhuvaneshwar had returned home after receiving medical treatment, the assailants went to attack him. Armed with machetes and logs and heavily intoxicated, they created a disturbance outside his house. Although Bhuvaneshwar and his family members were not present at the time, their pet dog fiercely prevented the men from entering and incessantly barked.
In their bid to gain access, the trio damaged the gate. When one of them, armed with a machete, attempted to scale the wall and attack the dog, it bravely charged at him. Subsequently, the other two assailants joined in, overpowering the dog. They repeatedly stabbed it and slit its throat, leaving it to bleed to death. Bhuvaneshwar and his family members arrived later, only to find their beloved pet lifeless near the gate. A complaint was filed, leading to the arrest of the three men. Police revealed that all of them resided in the same neighborhood as Bhuvaneshwar.
