Massive fire breakout in Pune Timber Market
Massive fire breakout in Pune Timber Market

Pune, Bhawani Peth – A devastating fire broke out at a timber godown in the bustling Timber Market early this morning, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The inferno rapidly spread, engulfing four neighboring houses in its fiery grip.

The alarm was raised at 4:14 am, alerting the fire brigade to the incident at the timber godown located at 259, Bhawani Peth near R Ramoshigate. Thanks to the swift response of the authorities, the fire was prevented from further spreading, potentially saving a nearby settlement and a neighboring school from the catastrophic flames. The firefighters’ quick action included the removal of approximately 10 gas cylinders, which posed a significant threat to the area.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities have been reported thus far, as the firefighters acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the affected area. The heroic efforts of Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potfode, along with 20 other officers and approximately 100 personnel, have been commendable in tackling the devastating blaze head-on. In their relentless pursuit to combat the raging fire, around 30 fire tenders and private water tankers from various firefighting departments, including the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune Cantonment, PMRDA, and Pimpri-Chinchwad fire brigade, have been deployed at the scene. These brave firefighters are working tirelessly to bring the situation under control and fully extinguish the fire.

Eyewitnesses reported billowing smoke and towering flames that could be seen from a considerable distance. The fire has caused extensive damage to the timber godown and the four neighboring houses, reducing them to charred remains.

Local authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage. While the immediate priority remains extinguishing the flames and ensuring the safety of nearby structures, efforts are also underway to provide assistance and support to the affected families during this difficult time.

Updates regarding the incident will be provided as soon as new information becomes available. The local community and authorities are encouraged to come together to support those affected by this tragic event, rallying behind them in their recovery efforts. The resilience of the people of Pune will undoubtedly shine through as they rebuild and restore the affected area.

Our thoughts are with the families impacted by this devastating fire, and we express our deepest gratitude to the brave firefighters and rescue personnel who are risking their lives to protect the community.
