Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh – In a move aimed at empowering women and garnering support for the upcoming assembly polls, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the ‘Ladli Behna Yojana,’ a groundbreaking scheme that provides financial support to women across the state. The scheme, which garnered attention as a potential game-changer, aims to uplift women by offering them a monthly financial aid.

At an event in Jabalpur, Chief Minister Chouhan marked the occasion by personally transferring Rs 1,000 into the bank accounts of over 1.25 crore women in a single click. This initial installment serves as a testament to the government’s commitment to women’s welfare, with plans to increase the amount to Rs 3,000 in the future. Additionally, Chouhan announced the relaxation of the minimum age limit for beneficiaries, lowering it from 23 to 21 years.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Chief Minister Chouhan assured them of his continuous efforts to enhance the monthly support. He declared, “I’m starting this scheme with Rs 1,000 monthly sum, but will keep arranging funds to increase this sum continuously. I’ll arrange more money and increase this sum first by 250 to Rs 1,250. Ultimately, I’ll arrange more money and take the monthly sum to Rs 3,000 in the coming times.”

With a firm commitment to improving the lives of women in the state, Chouhan further pledged to ensure that every sister in Madhya Pradesh earns a minimum of Rs 10,000 monthly over the next five years. This ambitious vision reflects the government’s determination to uplift women economically and promote gender equality.

The ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ launch in Jabalpur comes just two days before Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s visit to the city, where she plans to launch Congress’s assembly poll campaign. With 48% of the total voters in Madhya Pradesh being women, this scheme’s unveiling demonstrates the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) commitment to securing their support in the upcoming elections.

Chief Minister Chouhan also announced the formation of ‘Ladli Behana Senas’ at the village level in the near future. These senas, or squads, will collaborate with the government to ensure the successful implementation of women-centric schemes in rural areas. Chouhan urged the women to continue supporting the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing that their alliance is crucial for the sustained success of women-centric initiatives.

Prior to the grand launch event, Chief Minister Chouhan held a roadshow in Jabalpur to engage with the local community. Furthermore, he sought the blessings of former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Uma Bharti at her residence in Bhopal earlier in the day.

The ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ signifies a remarkable step towards empowering women and fostering their economic independence. With the government’s steadfast commitment to women’s welfare, Madhya Pradesh aims to set an example for other states by promoting gender equality and upliftment through targeted financial assistance programs.
