Karnataka’s newly elected Congress government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, expanded its cabinet by inducting 24 legislators.
The allocation of portfolios is being discussed, and it is likely that CM Siddaramaiah will keep departments like finance and cabinet affairs. G Parameshwara is expected to become the home minister.
Deputy CM DK Shivakumar might be given the Bengaluru City Development portfolio along with Major and Medium Irrigation departments.
According to sources, Cheluvarayaswamy is likely to receive the transport portfolio, Muniyappa may be assigned revenue, Satish Jarikiholi might get the public works department, G Parameshwar might become the home minister, Byrati Suresh could take charge of the urban development department, MB Patil may become the industries minister, Nagendra might handle youth and sports, Venkatesh may oversee animal husbandry, Timmpur could handle excise, and Ramalinga Reddy might become the minister of Bangalore development department.
The list of MLAs who took oath on Saturday includes Dinesh Gundu Rao, Krishna Byre Gowda, Eshwar Khandre, Raheem Khan, Santosh Lad, KN Rajanna, K Ventakesh, HC Mahadevappa, Byrathi Suresh, Shivaraj Tangadi, RB Timmpur, B Nagendra, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Madhu Bangarappa, D Sudhakar, Cheluvaraya Swami, Mankul Vaidya, and MC Sudhakar.
Among the 24 MLAs who took oath, nine are first-timers, and there is one woman minister. Additionally, six Vokkaligas and eight Lingayat leaders have been included in the ministry.
