Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka has assigned portfolios to the newly-inducted cabinet ministers in the state. He has retained the Finance, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), Intelligence, Information, IT & BT, and Infrastructure Development departments for himself.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has been given responsibilities for Major and Medium Irrigation, Bengaluru City Development (including BBMP, BDA, BWSSB, BMRDA, BMRCL), and Town Planning related to these authorities.
The official state gazetteer, published on May 28 and released to the media on Monday, revealed the portfolio allocations. Dr. G. Parameshwara has been assigned the Home portfolio, H.K. Patil will handle Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Legislation, and Tourism, and K.H. Muniyappa will be responsible for Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
Other portfolio assignments mentioned in the gazetteer include Ramalinga Reddy for Transport and Muzrai, M.B. Patil for Large and Medium Industries, K.J. George for Energy, Dinesh Gundu Rao for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa for Social Welfare, and Satish Jarkiholi for Public Works.
Priyank Kharge will oversee Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Shivananda Patil will handle Textiles, Sugarcane Development, and the Directorate of Sugar from the Co-Operation department. B.Z. Zameer Ahmad Khan will be responsible for Housing, Wakf, and Minority Welfare, while Sharanappa Darshanapur will oversee Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises.
The gazetteer further states that N. Cheluvarayaswamy will be in charge of Agriculture, S.S. Mallikarjun for Mines and Geology, and Horticulture, and Rahim Khan for Municipal Administration and Haj. Other assigned portfolios include Santhosh Lad for Labour, Dr. Sharan Prakash Rudrappa Patil for Medical Education and Skill Development, R.B. Thimmapur for Excise, and K. Venkatesh for Animal Husbandry and Sericulture, among others.
