The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised concerns over the weather conditions in several districts of Maharashtra, prompting the issuance of a yellow alert. The alert indicates the possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds in Pune and other regions, as well as the likelihood of thunderstorms in North-Western India over the next few days.
For May 29 and May 30, Pune has been placed under a yellow alert by the IMD. Residents can expect light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour during this period. This weather pattern is expected to persist for 1-2 hours and may lead to localized flooding in certain areas. It is advised that citizens take necessary precautions and remain attentive to the warnings and advisories issued by the weather department.
Furthermore, the IMD has also extended the rainfall warning to eight additional districts in Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, and the Konkan meteorological subdivisions. These areas may experience varying degrees of rainfall, contributing to the overall precipitation in the region.
In addition to the Maharashtra forecast, the IMD has issued an orange alert for Haryana, North-East Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Thunderstorms are expected in Delhi for the next 3-4 days. This alert serves as a reminder for residents in these regions to be prepared for potential severe weather conditions.
IMD officials have attributed the anticipated rainfall to the influx of moisture from the Arabian Sea, affecting northwestern parts of India. This weather system is expected to persist for approximately five days, leading to thunderstorm activity in the northwestern regions.
As of now, Pune is experiencing temperatures below the normal level, accompanied by partly cloudy weather in the afternoon. However, the humidity levels have risen, making the temperature feel relatively higher. On Saturday, Shivajinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius, slightly below the average. Magarpatta reported the highest temperature in the city at 37 degrees Celsius, while Lavasa recorded the lowest temperature at 31.6 degrees Celsius.
Residents and authorities are urged to stay informed about the changing weather conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure safety. It is recommended to monitor local news and follow the instructions provided by the IMD and local authorities during this period of anticipated rainfall and thunderstorm activity.
Stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and remain cautious to mitigate any potential risks associated with the changing weather patterns.
