The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has now developed a new curriculum for students . It has improved the course of study , standardized commerce and accounting education in India . But the approval from government is awaited. Through the Board of Studies , the ICAI has developed a new curriculum for the CA students . It has normalized it and is a step towards standardizing the Accounting and Commerce education . This is done for higher secondary and undergraduate levels of schools/ colleges etc.
This new curriculum is made to make sure that CA students can become global professionals in the future. The Curriculum was put forward at the National Education Summit on Commerce and Accountancy . It was organized on 6 and 7 January.
Since there has been introduction of NEP this year, the new CA curriculum is also made according to the NEP . It puts an emphasis on more conceptual application rather than rattafication, and cramming. It has also taken in consideration the usage of technology and ethics.
ICAI had come into partnership with AIU. ( Assosciation of Indian Universities) , NCERT the (National Council of Educational Research and Training), and the National Council for Teacher’s Education . ( NCTE).
The leading scholars have also joined the gathering to discuss the ways to equip the students with the required skills while they study the curriculum. There are so many sessions that have been conducted on the topics like the role of commerce education in skilling youth for $5 trillion economy.
The president of ICAI, CA Dr. Debashish Mitra gave the presidential address, highlighted the roles of ICAI as educator and standard setter. He also put his words on the need for finance and tax literacy in every stream of work . This new curriculum has emphasized on inculcation of skills and practicality . ICAI is the second largest accounting body in the world and it is still widening its approach . The focus is now o achieving the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) .
