The CBSE Regional Science Exhibition 2024-25, held in Navi Mumbai on November 22nd and 23rd, featured a dazzling display of innovation by young science enthusiasts. With 84 projects from 52 schools across the Mumbai region, the two-day event showcased a range of creative and environmentally-conscious models, including everything from a Moon mission rover to a hydrogen-powered car. This event is part of CBSE’s initiative to encourage sustainable solutions through science and technology.

Among the standout exhibits was a hydrogen-powered car created by Aadhya Paul, a student from Atomic Energy Central School-4. The car uses solar energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, with the hydrogen powering the vehicle. Aadhya’s project demonstrates an innovative approach to energy production, offering a glimpse into a sustainable, green alternative to traditional fossil fuels. “This project is my attempt to show how green hydrogen can power the future without harming the environment,” Aadhya explained.

The exhibition featured both junior and senior categories, with participants presenting projects under sub-themes such as Transport and Communication, Food, Health and Hygiene, Natural Farming, Waste Management, and Disaster Management. Aadhya’s hydrogen-powered car model stood out for its practical application and environmental relevance, earning it a spot at the national level in the Transport and Communication category.

Judges at the event, including experts from artificial intelligence, molecular biology, and other scientific fields, commended Aadhya’s work. One teacher noted, “Projects like this not only address the urgent need for clean energy but also inspire others to find innovative ways to tackle climate change and reduce carbon footprints.”

The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri D. Sivanandhan, former Director General of Police, Maharashtra, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of scientific innovation in solving real-world problems and encouraged students to think critically about global challenges. “Science is the key to solving the world’s most pressing issues,” he said, urging students to pursue solutions that would benefit society.

Dr. H.S. Vashistha, Principal of DPS Nerul, spoke during the Valedictory Ceremony, stressing the importance of cultivating a scientific mindset. He highlighted how events like the CBSE Science Exhibition play a vital role in nurturing curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, which are essential for future innovators. “These exhibitions foster an environment where students can think outside the box and develop practical solutions to real-world problems,” he added.

The CBSE Science Exhibition also showcased the growing interest among students in finding sustainable solutions for global issues, from energy conservation to environmental protection. It was a platform not just for students to demonstrate their creativity, but also for them to connect with peers and experts working on similar challenges. This collaborative spirit is essential in solving the world’s most pressing issues, as these young innovators learn from each other and build on shared ideas.

Aadhya Paul’s model not only impressed the judges but also highlighted the potential of young minds to contribute to a sustainable future. She will now represent Maharashtra at the CBSE National Science Exhibition in Delhi, where her project will compete against the best from across the country. The event serves as a platform for young scientists to bring their ideas to life and work towards tangible solutions for global challenges.
