In the last 24 hours, Delhi’s maximum temperature reached 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature stood at 24 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD. These climatic conditions have led to an unexpected disruption at the G20 Summit, as heavy rain pounded the Bharat Mandapam, the venue for this significant diplomatic event.

The unexpected and persistent downpour has resulted in severe waterlogging across multiple areas of the national capital. This has posed significant challenges for local authorities, who are working tirelessly to manage the situation and ensure the safety of residents and summit attendees alike.

The precipitation began with light rain in various parts of Delhi, including Safdarjung, the airport, Rajghat, Vasant Kunj, Munirka, and Narela, on Saturday night and continued into Sunday morning. IMD shared its weather forecast on social media, stating, “Light to moderate-intensity rain with thunderstorms is expected over various places in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), including Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, and Ballabhgarh.”

Furthermore, the weather office has extended its predictions of rain to encompass some regions in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, indicating the widespread impact of this weather system.

Conclusion

As the city grapples with the aftermath of this unexpected weather event, authorities and organizers of the G20 Leaders’ Summit are working together to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees. The impact of heavy rainfall on this prestigious international gathering highlights the unpredictability of weather and its potential to affect even the most meticulously planned events. Delhi residents are advised to exercise caution while commuting and to stay updated with weather forecasts to prepare for the continued rain and its repercussions in the coming days.
