
Guwahati, Assam – In a significant development for the region, the Indian Railways will be launching the Guwahati-NJP Vande Bharat Express on Monday, 29th May. This marks the first-ever Vande Bharat Express to operate in Assam and the Northeastern part of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Assam’s inaugural Vande Bharat Express at 12 noon via video-conferencing, as confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The introduction of this state-of-the-art train is set to revolutionize travel for the people of the region, providing them with high-speed and comfortable transportation options. The Guwahati-NJP Vande Bharat Express is expected to enhance connectivity and promote tourism in the area. Compared to the existing fastest train, the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, the Vande Bharat Express will reduce the travel time between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri (NJP) by approximately one hour.
The Guwahati-NJP Vande Bharat Express will cover the 409-kilometer journey in a remarkable 5 hours and 30 minutes, whereas the current fastest train takes 6 hours and 30 minutes to complete the same route. This significant reduction in travel time will not only benefit passengers but also contribute to the overall development and economic growth of the region.
Timings and Stoppages:
The Guwahati-NJP Vande Bharat Express, with the train number 22228, will depart from Guwahati at 16:30 and arrive at NJP at 22:00. The train will make stops at Kamakhya, New Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, New Alipurduar, New Cooch Behar before reaching its final destination at NJP. At Kamakhya, the train will arrive at 16:40 and depart at 16:42, followed by New Bongaigaon at 18:35 departing at 18:36, Kokrajhar at 18:56 departing at 18:57, New Alipurduar at 19:48 departing at 19:49, New Cooch Behar at 20:02 departing at 20:03, and finally reaching NJP at 22:00.
The return journey, NJP-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express with train number 22227, will depart from NJP at 06:10 and arrive at Guwahati at 11:40. The train will stop at New Cooch Behar, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon, and Kamakhya stations before reaching its final destination in Guwahati. It will arrive at New Cooch Behar at 07:35, depart at 07:36, New Alipurduar at 07:50, depart at 07:51, Kokrajhar at 08:40, depart at 08:41, New Bongaigaon at 09:13, depart at 09:14, Kamakhya at 11:18, depart at 11:20, and finally reach Guwahati at 11:40.
