Goa’s state transport body recently welcomed the induction of 20 electric buses equipped with advanced features. These buses, launched by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, are set to be operated by the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited. The vehicles were supplied by electric bus manufacturer PMI Electro Mobility as part of a larger order to deliver a total of 48 electric buses by July 2023.
The addition of these electric buses strengthens Goa’s commitment to cleaner and greener transportation. The state already had electric buses in its bus transport corporation, and these 20 new vehicles further expand the fleet. The Chairman of PMI Electro Mobility, Satish Jain, highlighted the company’s dedication to contributing to Goa’s clean mobility goals. He stated that the electric buses would help the state avoid over 13,000 tons of CO2 emissions over a span of 10 years.
These electric buses come equipped with various advanced features to enhance passenger safety and convenience. The vehicles boast CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and automated digital fare collection systems. The inclusion of CCTV cameras and panic buttons aims to ensure the security and well-being of passengers during their journeys. Additionally, the automated digital fare collection system streamlines transactions, making them faster, more efficient, and digital for the convenience of commuters.
The buses also prioritize comfort and efficiency. They are equipped with air suspension systems, providing a smoother ride for passengers. Real-time diagnostics enable efficient monitoring and maintenance of the buses, ensuring optimal performance and reducing downtime. With these features, the electric buses are not only reliable and energy-efficient but also cost-effective for the state transport body.
Goa’s move towards incorporating electric buses into its public transport system aligns with the global shift towards sustainable mobility. Electric buses are an essential component of reducing air pollution and combating climate change. The state government’s prioritization of green mobility reflects its commitment to creating a cleaner and more sustainable future.
By introducing these 20 electric buses, Goa takes a significant step towards achieving its clean transportation goals. The state aims to provide a cleaner and more efficient public transport system while minimizing its environmental impact. With further deliveries planned in the coming months, the state’s fleet of electric buses is expected to grow, bringing about a positive change in the state’s transportation landscape and setting an example for other regions to follow.
