In a concerning incident, a gangster named Sanjiv Maheshwari, popularly known as Sanjiv Jeeva, was shot and killed outside a courtroom in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. This incident has once again drawn attention to the prevailing law and order situation in the state. According to reports, the shooter was disguised as a lawyer, adding to the audacity of the crime.

Sanjiv Maheshwari, who operated a criminal gang in western Uttar Pradesh, was captured in a video footage appearing lifeless on the ground while officials desperately tried to staunch his bleeding from the gunshot wounds. It remains unclear whether there were multiple assailants involved in the attack. However, it has been reported that lawyers present at the court managed to apprehend one of the attackers and promptly handed him over to the police.

The gangster, dressed in a green shirt and blue denims, had been brought to a local court in the Kaiserbagh area of Lucknow when the shooting occurred. Sanjiv Jeeva had a long history of criminal activities, with numerous cases pending against him. He operated multiple criminal syndicates in the state and had spent several years in jail. Reports suggest that he faced approximately 50 criminal cases in both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Some sources also indicate his association with gangsters from eastern Uttar Pradesh, such as Mukhtar Ansari.

The incident has raised questions about the security measures within the court premises. It remains unclear how the attacker managed to gain access to a firearm and enter the court premises undetected. The incident has sparked concerns over the vulnerability of the judicial system and the need for improved security protocols.

This attack comes merely two months after the shooting and subsequent death of another gangster, Atiq Ahmed, while he was in police custody. These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges in maintaining law and order in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
