Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and ex-Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi’s health condition is critical, following a brain hemorrhage that has left him in a semi-comatose state. He was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai two days ago and remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under close medical supervision.
P.D. Hinduja Hospital, where Joshi is being treated, issued a statement confirming his critical condition and semi-comatose state. While his brain hemorrhage is stable, he is unconscious and continues to receive medical management. The 85-year-old veteran Shiv Sena leader was admitted to the hospital on May 22, breathing on his own and not requiring a ventilator.
Joshi’s son, Unmesh Joshi, provided an update on his father’s condition, stating that he remains unconscious, and doctors have advised them to adopt a “wait and watch” approach. The family is understandably concerned about his well-being and is relying on the expertise of the medical team to guide them through this difficult time.
Notable figures within the Shiv Sena, including party chief Uddhav Thackeray and his wife Rashmi Thackeray, visited the hospital to inquire about Joshi’s health. The Shiv Sena, a political party in Maharashtra, has a deep-rooted connection with Joshi, who was their first chief minister of the state after the Shiv Sena-BJP coalition came to power in 1995. Over the years, Joshi has held various significant positions, including Mumbai mayor, leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, and Union Heavy Industries Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee cabinet.
The critical condition of Manohar Joshi has prompted concern and prayers from his supporters and well-wishers across the political spectrum. His contributions to Maharashtra’s politics and governance have been substantial, and he is respected as a seasoned leader. As news of his health spreads, people from different walks of life are joining in solidarity to hope for his recovery.
At present, the medical team at P.D. Hinduja Hospital is doing everything possible to stabilize Joshi’s condition and closely monitor his progress. The coming days will be crucial in determining his response to treatment and the overall prognosis.
The thoughts and prayers of the nation are with Manohar Joshi and his family during this challenging time. His contributions to Maharashtra’s political landscape and his extensive service to the nation will be remembered, regardless of the outcome.
