The Delhi High Court has granted permission for Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is currently in judicial custody related to the Delhi excise policy scam, to meet his wife. The meeting is scheduled to take place from 10 am to 5 pm on June 3. However, the court has specified that Sisodia should not interact with the media or meet anyone other than his family members during the visit. He will not have access to a phone or the internet during this time. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been directed to submit a status report on Sisodia’s interim bail plea by tomorrow evening.
The court has also reserved its verdict on Sisodia’s plea for interim bail, citing his wife’s medical condition. Additionally, the regular bail plea filed by Sisodia in the money laundering case related to the alleged liquor policy scam has also been reserved. The ED and the CBI initiated investigations based on a report by the Delhi Chief Secretary, which accused Sisodia of violating statutory provisions and facilitating kickbacks in exchange for a revised liquor policy. Sisodia and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have denied the allegations and argued that the policy decisions were approved by the Lieutenant Governor. Sisodia maintains that no kickbacks have been traced to him so far.
