Reacting to the incident, Satyanarayan Prajapat, the Superintendent of Police in Muzaffarnagar, shared that their investigation revealed that the teacher had associated the child’s education with his religious background. The teacher allegedly mentioned that the education of Muslim children who don’t pay attention is compromised. Authorities vowed to take appropriate action against the teacher for her actions and remarks.
Head of BJP IT Cell Comments
In response to the incident, Amit Malviya, the Head of the BJP IT Cell, commented that although it was a “terrible idea to ask fellow students to beat another,”. He had also denied any communal angle. By stating that the teacher’s intentions had punishment-orientation in mind due to the student’s inability to learn multiplication tables. Malviya accused “usual suspects” of falsely alleging communal motives and criticized them for prioritizing the child’s religious identity over his well-being.
However, opposition leaders and citizens alike expressed strong displeasure with Malviya’s response. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the incident, stating that sowing the seeds of discrimination in the minds of innocent children is detrimental to the country’s values. He condemned the incident as an example of hate-mongering, blaming the ruling BJP party for contributing to the growing divisiveness in the nation.
