Chennai, June 12, 2023 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a public gathering in Chennai on Sunday, where he launched a scathing attack on the Congress and DMK parties, labeling them as “2G, 3G, 4G” parties. Shah accused them of engaging in dynasty politics and alleged corruption while urging the people of Tamil Nadu to reject these parties and support a “son of the soil” for power.

Speaking at the event, which aimed to highlight the achievements of the nine-year-long BJP-led NDA government, Shah criticized the Congress and DMK for perpetuating a culture of corruption and dynastic politics. He clarified that his reference to “2G, 3G, 4G” was not related to the infamous 2G spectrum allocation scam but rather symbolized the number of generations these parties had been involved in corruption.

“The Maran family (of the DMK) has been involved in corruption for two generations, while the Karunanidhi family has been involved for three generations. The Gandhi family represents the fourth generation, enjoying power for four generations,” Shah stated, directly targeting the political legacies of the two parties.

Further, Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive move to abrogate Article 370, which granted Jammu and Kashmir a special status. He highlighted that both the Congress and DMK had opposed the abrogation while crediting Modi with “uniting Kashmir” with India through the stroke of a pen.

“The time has come to throw out 2G, 3G, and 4G parties and entrust power in Tamil Nadu to a son of the soil,” Shah proclaimed, appealing to the crowd. He sought their opinion on the removal of Article 370 and emphasized the significance of Kashmir’s integration with India.

Earlier in the day, Amit Shah attended a meeting with Tamil Nadu BJP leaders, including the party’s state president K Annamalai, in Chennai. The meeting aimed to discuss the party’s strategies and preparations ahead of the upcoming state elections.

Shah’s scathing remarks against the Congress and DMK reflect the BJP’s determination to challenge the political status quo in Tamil Nadu. With these comments, he aims to resonate with the electorate by emphasizing the need for change and a break from the allegedly corrupt practices of the past.

As the political landscape in Tamil Nadu continues to evolve, Amit Shah’s visit and statements set the stage for a fierce electoral battle between the BJP and the established parties in the state. The coming months will reveal the extent to which his rhetoric and the BJP’s campaign resonate with the people of Tamil Nadu.
